My violinmaking follows exacting standards derived from studying the Old Masters as well as the latest advances in violin making thought and theory. Copying all of the isms in art has driven me to create violins which are founded in aesthetic originality.

Every time you place the violin to your chin and prepare to draw the bow, there is that moment of hesitation… that pause for connectedness to your surroundings and what is ultimately your life and art. In a way, it is coming outside of ourselves and into the art of music. When I approach wood with a chisel, I am overcome with the exact same feeling of anticipation. All the thousand upon thousand of strokes with chisel and scraper are the same as the bow strokes playing a violin concerto. As a maker I sense the importance of each sculptural stroke upon the wood. We certainly do not want any wrongful notes from the beginning to the end.
